In the process of testing for asbestos, a Licensed Assessor will take on-site air samples and also check the site’s precise cleanliness.
The tests are taken to and conducted in an independent IANZ laboratory, certified in testing for asbestos.
If asbestos is confirmed to be found on your site then the licensed assessor will issue a Clearance Certificate, allowing re-occupation of the site.
A survey can be completed to determine the presence, nature and quantity of asbestos and the risk it has to those associated with the site.
Following a structured guideline, an asbestos survey will result in an Asbestos Register that can determine what maintenance can be done and how the affected area can be used. The national standard safe level of asbestos is 1 part per million. Testing and reporting of asbestos on site will take approximately 3 days.
A Licensed Assessor will come on site to conduct an air test in order to obtain air samples.
The air is tested for asbestos particle levels by running an Air Pump, which has been attached to a cassette filter, at a determined airflow rate for a specified period of time.
The cassette filter is then delivered to an independent IANZ laboratory, accredited for testing for the presence of asbestos who microscopically check the filter, issuing an Air Sample Certificate which states the asbestos levels in the air and the type of asbestos present.
From here there a 3 options to handle the asbestos; Do nothing, where possible cover the building material containing asbestos, or remove material containing asbestos.
